How Egypt Is Building A Massive Artificial River To Solve Its Water And Food Crisis

For more than 5,000 years, Egypt’s civilization has depended on a single source of water: the Nile River. But as the population grows rapidly and 96% of the country is covered by desert, Egypt has been forced to launch one of the most ambitious engineering megaprojects of the 21st century. In this video, we break down the New Delta Project — a massive initiative designed to transform part of the Sahara Desert into fertile farmland by building one of the largest artificial river and irrigation systems ever created. Egyptian engineers are constructing a water conveyance system stretching more than 100 km, combining giant pressure pipelines, 12 super-powerful pumping stations, and a centralized SCADA control system capable of moving millions of cubic meters of water deep into the desert every single day. The water supply does not come only from the Nile.
