Past midnight, the bulldozers arrived at Kolkata’s Jadavpur Station on June 7. What followed was fear, rubble, ruin, and lives turned upside down in a matter of hours. Shops that fed families for years were reduced to debris as hawkers, residents, students and protesters tried to stop the demolition through the night.
