Beethoven Sonata "Moonlight" Tutorial (Second Movement)

As Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung (Heidelberg) described, “Shijun Wang is a fascinating, serious, and sensitive musician.” As a solo pianist and orchestral soloist, Dr. Wang has performed extensively throughout the United States—including California, New York, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Utah, Connecticut, New Jersey, Indiana, and Idaho—as well as internationally in Germany, Spain, France, Norway, China, Mexico, and Japan. Under the management of one of China’s most prestigious artist agencies, 100 Arte, he performs regularly in major cities across China each summer. In addition, he has presented masterclasses, lectures, and recitals at more than half of China’s major conservatories, including Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Xi’an Conservatory of Music, Harbin Conservatory of Music, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, and Jilin College of the Arts. He was appointed the youngest-ever Visiting Professor at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, where he gives concerts and masterclasses for two months each summer. Dr. Wang is also an active pedagogue and festival faculty member, serving on the piano faculty of the East/West International Piano Festival (South Korea), the Puigcerdà Music Festival (Spain), InterHarmony Music Festival in Italy, the Baylor Piano Summer Institute, and the Lancaster International Music Festival. Currently, Dr. Wang is Associate Professor of Piano and Director of the Keyboard Division at Baylor University. He earned his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Oxana Yablonskaya and Joseph Kalichstein, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Nelita True. His artistic mentors have included Thomas Schumacher, Dan-Wen Wei, Alfred Brendel, Emanuel Ax, and Richard Goode.
