Abandoned Cold War Bunker Under Halifax | Exploring Hidden Underground Tunnels Alone

In this urban exploration adventure, I venture alone into the abandoned Halifax County Borough Control Bunker, a hidden Cold War civil defence bunker buried beneath Halifax, West Yorkshire. Built during the 1950s and converted in 1964 into a Civil Defence Corps Sub-Area Control Centre, this underground bunker was designed to coordinate emergency responses in the event of a nuclear attack. Following local government changes and the construction of a newer control centre, the bunker was eventually abandoned and left to deteriorate. This was my first visit to the site and, exploring solo, I only managed to scratch the surface of what lies beneath. Although the video isn’t my longest exploration, it reveals the fascinating history and eerie atmosphere of this forgotten Cold War relic. On a later visit with a fellow explorer, we returned for a much deeper investigation and discovered five underground tunnels, along with something unexpected that I completely missed on my first trip. That full exploration will be featured in a future video. Today, the bunker remains sealed from the public after decades of flooding, water damage and neglect, making it one of Halifax’s most dangerous forgotten underground locations.
