PRO ARĂTURĂ. De ce plugul rămâne esențial în majoritatea fermelor

Ploughing remains a basic agricultural operation on small and medium-sized farms in Romania. While recent investments have brought the technique of minimal tillage to large farms, for family farms, deep tillage is the best solution for the initial preparation of the seedbed. Not only do they promote ploughing, but Zetor Tractor founders Gheorghe Porubszki and Ioan Drienovski draw attention to the additional challenges that may arise when shallow tilling the soil. Thus, farmers who switch to minimal or no till must consider a number of aspects, starting from the cost of the equipment. Zetor Tractor founders also attack the theory that ploughing leads to water loss from the soil. Gheorghe Porubszki and Ioan Drienovski demonstrate, in the field, on a 240-hectare farm, that ploughing, done at the right time and in the right way, does not favor the establishment of a moisture deficit.
