Bill Jensen A Room of Wisdom at AMANITA
James Kalm has been following the artistic career of Bill Jensen since the late 1970s. As a “painter’s painter” and an essential founder of the Williamsburg art scene, Jensen has carved out a unique place in the New York art world, ignoring commercial fads, and “identity” enclaves. With a palpable intuition into the power of paint, and its ability to express content, the artist has spent nearly half a century researching the physical properties and history of painting. With “A Room of Wisdom” Jensen presents a cross section of recent paintings, some with familiar elements like his double yin yang mandalas, or large brightly colored arcs, and others with new mysterious forms that may reference figures, or their shadows. A musical introduction is presented by Kazoo Music. This program was recorded May 31, 2025. #jameskalmreport #jameskalmroughcut #lorenmunk
