Instead of a week of sightings, I want to spend the whole episode on one story. Those of you who caught the end of last week's episode will know what's coming. The Nkoveni Female has cubs. We know that from the suckle marks we found a few weeks ago. What we don't have yet is the den. This is the story of what the search has looked like — the days we sat with her at a carcass hoping she'd lead us home, the moments we thought we were close, and where it all sits right now. It isn't finished yet. But it's worth telling anyway. Quick update on the pack of thirteen wild dogs while I'm at it — we've heard all five females have given birth, but it happened just over our eastern boundary.
