He Defeated incumbent Pres George Weah to become the President of Liberia: Profile of Joseph Boakai

In this edition of BIH, we present to you the profile of the president elect of Liberia, his name, Joseph Boakai. We present his birth, education, struggles to shrug off from inherited poverty and become a man of his own, his participation in politics, his time as Vice President to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, his earlier contest for the office of President, his defeat at the time and his eventual emergence as the President-elect of Liberia in a keenly contested election that resulted in a run-off. On Friday 17th November, 2023 he was declared as the winner of an election that is described by many as the most keenly contested election in Liberia’s electoral history in 20 years.
