A Rare T. Rex Footprint Was Found Near Eagle Nest
I had no idea T. rex walked near Eagle Nest. On this museum geology field trip, geologist John Mesa took us through the story hidden in the mountains around Eagle Nest, Cimarron Canyon, and the Palisades. We learned how this valley formed, why the cliffs look the way they do, how ancient seas once covered this area, how gold helped create Elizabethtown, and why a rare T. rex footprint found on Philmont Scout Ranch land is such an extraordinary discovery. This is one of those days that made me look at a familiar place completely differently. Thanks for traveling with us. #EagleNest #CimarronCanyon #NewMexico #TRex #Philmont #Geology #Palisades #Elizabethtown #GoldRush #TravelsWithDottie
