Lecture 03 Early Modernism, Abstraction and Surrealism before World War II
Lecture 03 Early Modernism, Abstraction and Surrealism before World War II ARTH3120 Contemporary Art Travis Lee Clark Utah Valley University Okay so this is a speed run people. I cover the first half of the 20th C. but I only hit the highlights as it pertains to Contemporary Art. Contemporary ARt both builds on and rebels against Modernism. To see where you are going your have to know where you've been so I hit Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, Suprematism, Abstraction and Surrealism, but only the part that pertain to Contemporary Art. Finally we set the stage for the triumph of Modernism in the Post WW2 era. Along the way I make unintentional Dad jokes and give lyric suggestions to Billie Eilish.
