Anoka and the Tornado of '39
Nominated for a 2015 Regional Emmy® Award! On June 18, 1939, a tornado ripped through Anoka, killing nine, injuring 144, and creating more than two million dollars worth of damage to the small Minnesota town. The events of that tragic day forever marked the town and its citizens. Now, 75 years later, this new documentary seeks to preserve that history through photograph, newly discovered home movies of the disaster, and new interviews with four survivors of the tornado, including a woman who lost her father that fateful day.
