Before Cities, Whole Human Worlds Stood Where Seas Are Now

Before the oldest harbors and the first written cities, entire human landscapes stood on ground now buried beneath continental shelves. Their rivers, hunting grounds, camps, and villages vanished as the last Ice Age ended, taking one of prehistory’s largest missing records with them. The Lost Coastlines Where Ice Age People Built Forgotten Worlds follows the drowned plains exposed during the Last Glacial Maximum, when sea levels stood up to 120 meters lower and regions such as Doggerland, Sundaland, Beringia, the Persian Gulf basin, the Black Sea margins, Atlit Yam, and the Yucatán cave systems formed habitable corridors and resource-rich coasts. Using evidence from side-scan sonar, sediment cores, seismic mapping, pollen records, submerged forests, tools, burials, and preserved faunal remains, this film examines how Meltwater Pulse 1A and later sea-level surges after about 14,500 BCE erased entire ecosystems within centuries. From North Sea Mesolithic settlements to Pacific coastal migration routes and debated underwater monuments, the record points to forgotten societies shaped by abrupt climate change, mobility, and adaptation, preserved in fragments beneath modern seas. #History #Archaeology #Doggerland #Sundaland #Beringia #AtlitYam #IceAge #UnderwaterHeritage If this was useful, subscribe.    / @forgottencivilization5   Keep learning 👇 Full video here: "When the Seas Rose, Human History Lost Its Coasts" —    • When the Seas Rose, Human History Lost Its...   Full video here: "Why Distant Civilizations Kept Telling the Same Stories" —    • Why Distant Civilizations Kept Telling the...   00:00:00 Ice Age Worlds Beneath the Waves 00:02:59 Meltwater Pulse 1A 00:06:25 Ocean Floor as Time Capsule 00:09:04 Doggerland: The Lost North Sea Land 00:11:00 Mapping Doggerland's Ancient Rivers 00:15:52 Daily Life in Doggerland 00:17:17 Sunderland: The Lost Asian Continent 00:18:50 Stepping Stone to Australia 00:23:05 Submerged Caves and Ancient Art 00:25:17 Beringia: The American Gateway 00:28:47 The Kelp Highway Hypothesis 00:32:10 The Persian Gulf Oasis 00:35:06 Flooding of the Gulf and Migration 00:37:06 The Black Sea Deluge 00:41:26 Mediterranean Submerged Villages 00:43:24 Atlit Yam: A Neolithic Village 00:51:43 Yucatan's Flooded Caves and Naya 00:56:22 Drowned Forests and Climate Records 01:01:00 Submerged Artifacts and Symbolism 01:05:39 Controversial Underwater Structures 01:11:34 Real Lost Worlds vs. Legends 01:19:03 Coastal Migration Highways 01:26:50 Flood Myths and Seafaring Traditions 01:36:33 The Lost Cradle of Civilization? 01:43:15 Rewriting Human Prehistory
