Cashmerette Upton Dress - Sewalong - Part 3 Underline/Interlining Bodice (Optional)

Sit along with me whilst I underline (sometimes called Interlining) my bodice pieces with silk organza for stability and strength. This same approach could also be used if you wanted to use a lace top layer and coloured fabric underneath. I chose View A with a princess seamed sleeveless bodice (from the Expansion Pack) with a pleated skirt but no pockets. I fully lined the dress and underlined the bodice with silk organza. I also added a waist stay to the dress to prevent stretching out in that area. This is a really straightforward sew but with the addition of the extras mentioned above I hope you agree that it really elevated the finished dress. Fabric from Sewing B in Stapleford, Nottingham, England Sewn at my home in Benahavís, Málaga, Southern Spain I sized down into a size 12 (Originally I'd calculated that I was a size 14 shoulders and arm, to a size 16 waist and hips. I was also an E/F cup size. As this fabric was very lightweight and floaty I made a 12/14 in the video but will make a straight size 12 in this weight fabric in the future. For a more structured fabric I would start again at the size 14 as I feel the heavier fabric will need a larger size. I'm happy to answer any questions and hope you enjoy this sewing journey with me.
