Jules Grison (1842 - 1896): Fantaisie pour Orgue sur le Chant de Noel ADESTE FIDELES connu aussi sous le nom de HYMNE PORTUGAIS Jules Grison was organist of the cathedral at Reims which was the most important church in France after Notre-Dame-de-Paris. The large recital piece starts with a Prologue in form of a Toccata. An short imitation of church bells introduces the first vers of the Christmas Carol. A lyrical symphonic Fugue ends as a heroic hymn. A virtuos Flauto-Traverso-Solo decorates the second verse of the Christmas Carol which is executed by the charming sound of a Voix humaine. A second Toccata introduces the third verse of the Christmas Carol which is now performed as a monumental and majestic Chorale. The Final presents large Fanfares. Organ at Metz (1903) Ch.
