We occasionally receive feedback from customers that the bag doesn't open completely, or that it no longer opens fully after being opened and closed several times. This shouldn't happen and can be prevented with a single – but crucial – step. This is step 7 of our illustrated quick guide. However, we'll start with step 5. Two things are particularly important here: First: Don't use sharp fingernails. Second: Only push the bag in up to the end of your fingernail. If you push the bag in further than the end of your fingernail, the seal won't improve – instead, the bag will be overstretched, which can create small holes. Secure the bag clip by clip – not several at once. Then, open the closure again using the twist lock knob by turning it counterclockwise. Now come the crucial steps 7 to 9 – smoothing out the bag opening. Please pay close attention here. If this isn't done correctly, the bag can later come loose from the clamps – and the opening won't work properly anymore. You might think you could just make the clamps stronger – but that's precisely not the solution. This would put too much strain on the bag and could damage it. The solution is quite simple: smooth it out cleanly so the bag has room to move and therefore can't slip out of the clamps. We'll show you how now. Carefully smooth the bag from top to bottom to create a nice opening. For optimal opening, you can also push a little bit of the bag downwards (a few millimeters are enough). This prevents tension from building up on the clamps, which would then cause the bag to come loose. If you don't do this properly, the bag can come loose from the clamps during use. This would prevent the closure from opening correctly. We've linked a separate video on this topic. Then you attach the sealing flange. Make sure it's correctly aligned in the insertion direction. Fine adjustments can be made at any time by slightly twisting the sealing flange. Now for the test: Open and close the closure 2-3 times. The bag should open smoothly each time. If the bag comes loose during this process, don't panic. Repeat the steps a few times to ensure it works correctly. For future use, we recommend using a new bag. This will ensure that no small holes have developed from repeated use. Finally, close the closure again using the twist-lock knob by turning it clockwise.
