Join the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra at the beautiful Musaion for Magnificent Mozart, an unforgettable afternoon showcasing some of Mozart's most beloved orchestral masterpieces, dazzling concertos and timeless melodies. Under the baton of conductor Xavier Cloete, this special celebration brings together three outstanding South African soloists whose artistry will illuminate Mozart's extraordinary music. Featuring Cobus du Toit – Flute One of South Africa's most distinguished flautists, Cobus du Toit is renowned for his expressive tone, technical brilliance and captivating stage presence. He takes centre stage in Mozart's graceful Andante for Flute and Orchestra and the enchanting Concerto for Flute and Harp. Shannon Thebus – French Horn A leading voice of the French horn in South Africa, Shannon Thebus brings warmth, nobility and virtuosity to Mozart's celebrated Horn Concertos Nos. 2 and 4. These works remain among the most beloved pieces ever written for the instrument. Gaylen Sales – Harp Acclaimed harpist Gaylen Sales joins Cobus du Toit in Mozart's exquisite Concerto for Flute and Harp, a work overflowing with elegance, charm and sparkling dialogue between the two solo instruments. Celebrating Mozart's 270th Birthday Few composers have shaped music history as profoundly as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. More than two centuries after his death, his music continues to inspire audiences with its beauty, humanity, wit and emotional depth. Andante for Flute and Orchestra, K.315 One of Mozart's most beautiful slow movements, the Andante unfolds with serenity and grace, allowing the flute to sing with extraordinary elegance. Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major, K.495 Widely regarded as the finest of Mozart's horn concertos, this masterpiece blends brilliance, warmth and irresistible joy. INTERVAL Divertimento in D major, K.136 Written when Mozart was just sixteen years old, this energetic work bursts with youthful vitality, sparkling rhythms and infectious optimism.
