Shelf cloud, rainbow, cumulonibus clouds and high clouds - June 11 - 13, 2026

A stormy cold front with drastic drop temperatures affected Mogosoaia at the dawn of June 12, after a few days with tropical temperatures. This was the last semnificant storm with serious temperature drop before the first really hot front of summer 2026 entered Romania. The sequnce begins with a clear skies and a really hot sun rising, rapdilly warming the atmosphere trough the morning. A hot,breazy afternoon follows and all the heat acumuleated during the day, creates dramatic towering cumulonibus clouds late in the afternoon, bringing occasional rain and wind. By sunset the edge of an anvil reaches Mogosoaia and slowly shoallows the day light, as dusk follows.The first part of the night is calm but after midnight, lightning begins to flicker in the west, signing the storms approch. As the anvil covers the sky, a shelf cloud iluminated by the distant lightning rolls in, bringing torrential rain, crazy winds,strobe lightning and loudly thunder as dawn opens. As the storm moves away, the sky opens building dramatic cloudscapes and low level cumulus clouds. The atmosphere stays unstable until late afternoon the day turning moody, windy and rainy. At sunset, the sun finally mananges to break the clouds, coloring the clouds in orange and made conditions perfect for a rainbow to appear. After dusk the stormy syestem finally moves away, the night turning quiet, the clouds clear partially before dawn. After sunrise, the last cirrus cloud move east, the day turning plesant and warm with cumulus clouds rolling in under a bright blue sky. The last sunset of the sequnce is calm, with altrocumulus clouds iluminated in pink.
