Visit of Dr Javaid Laghari to SABS University

The Convener of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) National Task Force on Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORICs) and Business Incubation Centers (BICs), and former Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Javaid R. Laghari, paid a visit to Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritages, Jamshoro. Upon his arrival, Prof. Dr. Laghari was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor of SABS University, Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto. During his visit, he inaugurated the newly established Directorate of ORIC at the university, marking a significant step towards strengthening research and innovation activities at the institution. Prof. Dr. Laghari also toured the university’s Art Gallery and Computer Laboratory, where he observed a wide range of creative and technological projects developed by students from various departments. The exhibits included artwork, artificial intelligence-based software applications, mathematical software solutions, and AI-powered video games, showcasing the students’ innovative capabilities and technical skills. As part of the visit, Prof. Dr. Laghari planted a tree on the university campus, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and academic development. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto presented him with a traditional Ajrak and a souvenir in recognition of his contributions to higher education. The two distinguished academicians also exchanged copies of their authored books. Addressing faculty members and university officials, Prof. Dr. Laghari expressed his pleasure at visiting the institution and witnessing the remarkable work being carried out by its students. He noted that, being a native of Hyderabad, he felt proud to see such a vibrant and progressive institution flourishing in nearby Jamshoro. He said that he was delighted to witness the creativity, innovation, and enthusiasm of the students which is truly admirable. He thanked Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto for the invitation and appreciated the university’s rapid growth within a relatively short period. Prof. Dr. Laghari further remarked that SABS University possesses immense potential for future development while also facing important challenges that accompany growth. He emphasized that the passion and creativity demonstrated by the students provide a strong foundation for the university’s continued success and contribution to higher education, research, and innovation in Pakistan.
