Therapeutic Recreation Assistant Program
Older adults are the fastest growing age group in Canada, resulting in a growing employment need for professionals who can support and promote optimal health for this generation. The field of therapeutic recreation, especially for older adults (gerontology), is not just limited to physical exercise but activities that promote healthy living. These activities include: arts & crafts, music, gardening, games, social events, outings and entertainment. The promotion of health in older adults encompasses physical, social, emotional, cultural, spiritual and mental well-being. Stenberg College's 46-week Therapeutic Recreation (Gerontology) program prepares students to work in the rewarding field of Therapeutic Recreation (Gerontology).
