Lend me a few minutes to share with you a song. This is Paraiso. This song is about finding hope in despair. It is in these times, when sickness and calamity ravage our land and sunder society, that we all need to hope. We can’t deny what we’ve endured. We’ve all lost opportunities, jobs, health, plans, relationships, and even the lives of those we treasure so much in this world. The fact is that right now, we are curled up inside our "cardboard floors and walls," suffering in our own way. So it may be hard, but despite the pain, we have to tell ourselves to find our own Paraiso. Find where we can accept everything that has happened, and have the courage to heal. Perhaps Paraiso can be found not necessarily in a far away land, but in a small corner of the house, or under a tree, or in the companionship of a beloved pet, a friend, a lover, family, or perhaps in the food we eat, or the things we do, or maybe simply, solitarily within us. If it is in these things we find hope, never let go.
