A well-known commercial establishment in Venezuela was converted into a hospital to treat victims of the earthquakes that struck the country last Wednesday. Volunteer doctors used the facilities and sidewalks of a McDonald's restaurant in Caraballeda, La Guaira, to attend to emergencies resulting from the natural disaster. NTN24 visited the restaurant and spoke with some of the doctors present, who explained how the site has been set up to function practically for both the victims and the medical professionals. The doctors explained that the restaurant has a designated area to store supplies received from various sectors, which have been invaluable to the victims and healthcare professionals. There is also an area for pets that have been rescued from the streets by people who bring them to the restaurant to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the earthquakes. The well-known fast-food restaurant, now a center for care and logistical support, was one of the few buildings that remained standing in the area after the surrounding structures collapsed due to the powerful earthquakes.
