The Flying Stones of Nan Madol
Filmed in 1991 and released in 1992 by Lost City Productions©, this is the sole authorized version of The Flying Stones of Nan Madol©, the freewheeling pilot episode for the planned TV series “Lost City Adventures©”. Narrated by British blues pioneer “Long” John Baldry and featuring renowned Vancouver, Canada media production figures Cash Edwards, Lester Lightstone, Ian Verchere and Eric Harwood Davies, it showcases an eclectic playlist of alternative music, surrealist artwork by visionary painter Loren Adams, and ground-breaking video techniques that were years ahead of their time. Join host and controversial “Lost Cities” author David Hatcher Childress on a rock and roll ride across the Pacific Ocean to the remote Micronesian islands of Kosrae and Pohnpei, where viewers travel through jungles and mangroves to reach the baffling archaeological ruins of Lelu and Nan Madol. Locals and scholars deepen this tropical mystery by offering their theories on how these monumental ancient stone structures were built. No clear answers are found, but in attempting to radically redefine the documentary series format, The Flying Stones of Nan Madol© takes chances and pushes boundaries to the limit. Nearly 30 years later, television still hasn’t seen anything quite like it. Happy viewing!
