I2C and UART (RS232/RS422/RS485) are two of the most widely used serial communications protocols in electronics. Since I purchased the small, very useful and inexpensive LA1002 8-channel 24 MHz USB logic analyzer a few years ago, I thought it would be a good idea to record the I2C and UART communications from the radio receiver (FM-RDS) I built with the SI4703 module and Arduino. I'll take this opportunity to demonstrate how a logic analyzer works and how it can help develop and understand many communications protocols. With the help of the graphical information provided by this logic analyzer, it has been easier for me to explain the details and differences between the I2C and UART protocols.
