Sudeep Kumar Agrawal Corporate Trainer of Civil Guruji Civil Engineers Training Institute is Explaining About Types of Loads on Building Structure Which are as follows Types of Loads on Building Structure 0:00 Introduction of Er. Sudeep Kumar Agrawal and about Topic 0:35 What is Dead Load 2:03 Construction Operating Process 4:26 Imposed Loads 06:49 Earthquake Forces 08:29 Wind Loads 10:03 Snow Loads 12:26 Other Forces And Effects 13:09 Final Conclusion 14:17 Dead Load The Dead loads in the building include the weight of all permanent constructions, like roofs, floors, walls, partition walls, beams, columns, balcony’s footing. These loads assessed by estimating the quantity of each material and then multiplying it with the unit weight. The unit weights of various materials used in building constructions also give in the code IS875 -1987. Imposed Loads The loads which keep on changing from time to time are called imposed loads. Common examples of such loads in a building are the weight of the persons, weights of the movable partition, loads and weight of the furniture. These loads are to suitably assumed by the designer. IS 875 -1987 Part 2 Wind Loads The force exerts by the horizontal component of wind is to consider in the design of buildings. It depends upon the velocity of wind and the shape and size of the building. Vz = k1 k2 k3Vb Pz= 0.6 Vz2 k1= Risk coefficient k2 = Coefficient based on terrain, height, and structure size. k3= Topography factor Snow Loads Snow load acts vertical load in a building. The detail of load is given for IS code 875 -1975. Other Forces and Effects As per clause 19.6 of IS 456-200, in addition to the above load discussed, the account shall be taken of the following forces and effects if they are liable to affect materially the safety and serviceability of the structure.
