Top 10 tips for hiking 100 miles on the South Downs Way

What’s up YouTube, Russell Hepton here, welcome to The Trail Hunter and today I’ll be giving you my top 10 tips for hiking the full 100 miles of the South Downs Way! Just a few weeks ago I decided to go on a 100 mile hike of the South Downs Way which stretches from Winchester through rolling hills of British countryside and along the south coast to Eastbourne which is just east of Brighton. I decided to do this hike because of its long distance and relatively low elevation gain as I wanted to challenge myself in my mileage and see what I’m capable of. I wanted to know what it’s like to actually go on a thru-hike from start to finish and be able to move slowly through a landscape, wild camping as I go without having to turn back. I managed to finish the hike in just over 3 and a half days and also found out I’m capable of hiking over 30 miles in one day which was a huge step for me. So here I just thought I’d put myself out there as a hiker who’s completed the South Downs and give you a few little gems of wisdom, so here it is, my top 10 tips that will ensure that you make it the full 100 miles on the South Downs Way!
