Two days from Murtèl to Coaz Hut and down Val Roseg, magical views and many marmots (2026/7/4–5)

T2 level two-day hut hike, through the magical Val Roseg with breathtaking views across the white mountains and glaciers. Day 1 runs from Murtèl over Fuorcla Surlej to Coaz Hut SAC (9.2 km, 348 m up, 440 m down, 2h40m). Day 2 descends through Val Roseg to the Roseg Gletscher Restaurant (8.5 km, 146 m up, 757 m down, 2h28m), from where a horse taxi covers the final 7 km to Pontresina station. We were four, including an 11-year-old, so we kept the pace and distance modest. It's an easy, kid-friendly tour, not too steep, with a good path throughout. The views in Val Roseg are breathtaking, I had a hard time stopping filming and honestly didn't use all the material in this video, a lot of it looks similar after a while. But it really was that beautiful. On the last stretch to Coaz Hut on day 1, we saw a lot of marmots, we were basically walking through marmot town. The hut's interior has clearly been renovated, new wood throughout, and it looks really nice. It's well run by a friendly, well-organized team.
