Your roots anchor and carry you forward | Karina Jianu | TEDxUnirii Street

In this talk, Karina shares how she once believed success meant distancing herself from her roots, hometown, and identity in order to become "better". Over time, she learned that her struggles, memories, and background were not weaknesses, but the foundation of her most valuable qualities. She highlighting that roots do not limit people, but fuel their growth and help them reach further. Karina is a Romanian film and theater actress. She was born on November 16, 2002, in Botoșani, Romania. She graduated from I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film, in Professor George Ivașcu’s class, class of 2024. While still in university, she performed in theater productions such as Double Fiesta (directed by Andrea Gavriliu), Iubiri senile (directed by Michele Modesto Casarin), and Dreptate pentru un criminal. She also appeared in the short films Blocada (2021, directed by Eusebio Treimii), Noaptea de vineri a Milenei (2022, directed by Petra Torsan), and Sunny (2024, directed by Andreea Parfenov). Her role as Sofi in Hoții de subiecte marks her feature film debut. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
