NarraScope 2026: 20,000 Prompts Under The Sea

20,000 Prompts Under The Sea: Exploring High-Volume Writing For Games Presented by Liz Anderson Sunday, June 14th 2026, The University at Albany, NY Description: Have you ever looked at a spreadsheet and wondered, “Does the 15th alt of this line feel the same as the third one?” Have you ever needed to find a sixth synonym for the word “ground?” Have you ever realized too late how annoying a phrase might be for players on their 70th hour of gameplay? Then this session is for you! I’ll discuss how to approach high-volume content needs for games as both a writer and an editor, emphasizing quality, player experience, and, most importantly, your sanity. I’ll mainly focus on lessons learned from co-op and party games, but best practices discussed here will be useful for writers of all genres. In a time where “non-essential” writing like barks, trivia, and UI language are the pitched use-cases for AI, writers must show why the human touch is irreplaceable. Speaker: Liz Anderson is a Chicago-based comedy writer and game developer. She has worked with Jackbox Games as a writer and editorial lead for the past five years, and has been writing professionally for over a decade. Liz’s other writing credits include “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me - The NPR News Quiz,” and The Onion, where she has been a writing fellow and contributor since 2019. Her work has been showcased on Polygon, Vulture, CBC Radio, and The Toast. You can find her on LinkedIn, Twitter, or at in-person events at conventions like PAXEast, C2E2, and TwitchCon.
