Mary was a French noblewoman who would eventually become Queen Consort of Scotland and the mother of the famous Queen Mary Stuart. Mary would eventually become Regent of Scotland and bring a portion of French culture and politics to those lands, although her regency would be affected by the tensions that arose between Catholics and Protestants, as well as by the constant threat of the English. She became a queen who fought for a Catholic and independent Scotland.
