Heisswurst-Automat | historischer Warenverkäufer | 60er-Jahre |Technik erklärt von Ingo

Even the ancient Greeks, and later the Romans, included processed animal meat in the form of sausage in their diet. Given the enduring popularity of sausage today, it's hardly surprising that vending machines existed in the 1960s and 70s to satisfy the need for a quick sausage on the go. According to the Rasting meat processing company in Bonn, no more than 50 units of this model were produced and operated exclusively at train stations. The 50g sausages were manufactured in Bonn specifically for vending machine sales. They had to be specially designed because, after inserting a 50-pfennig coin and waiting a short time, a hot sausage would emerge from the machine. Each sausage was pierced at both ends with a metal spike before dispensing and then electrically heated, causing it to fall into the dispensing compartment. We would like to give you an impression of the machines on display here. During guided tours, they are demonstrated and can be experienced live.
