JHU + WVU Rural Health Convos: Social Prescriptions

The goal of these virtual discussions between the Bloomberg School and West Virginia University School of Public Health investigators is to highlight important topical areas of overlap and opportunity in support of a recently announced research partnership between the Schools to advance joint solutions for shared challenges. All levels of experience and interest in rural health research were welcome. “Social prescriptions” refer to the referrals and services public health leaders use to provide patients with the most effective resources and interventions, such as public transportation cards, fresh food delivery and access, and translation services. In rural areas, these interventions can be the determining factor in a patient’s access to life-saving health care.
