Afganistan Değil İstanbul Zeytinburnu’nda Afganların Hayatı ~199
📍 In this video, I'm in the streets of Zeytinburnu, in the heart of Istanbul, which has practically become a 'Little Afghanistan'. After my trip to Afghanistan, I'm meeting with Afghan refugees, Turkmens, and Uzbeks who brought this culture to Türkiye, and listening to their perspectives on both Afghanistan and their lives in Türkiye. I begin my journey by going to Zeytinburnu at the invitation of Seyit, an Afghan brother I met on the subway. Seyit, who came to Türkiye illegally and is currently staying with a work permit, shows us around this street full of Afghan restaurants, shops, and local markets. Along the way, we meet an Afghan gentleman who came through official channels, a little angry at me for some of my criticisms in my Afghanistan videos, but still very friendly. In the video, we talk about the most striking details of Afghan culture: In a shop in Zeytinburnu, an Iranian-born Afghan girl tries on traditional clothes that women in Afghanistan can't even freely wear at weddings anymore, and she talks about the difficulties of life there. We touch upon the Afghans' inescapable addiction to 'Pan' (similar to Maraş grass), the price difference between Turkey and Afghanistan for the famous Afghan pilaf with plenty of meat eaten by hand, and most interestingly, the jaw-dropping tradition of the $20,000 bride price (thick) paid for marriage! This episode is a very special street interview/documentary that reflects the harsh realities of Afghanistan, the struggles of people seeking refuge in Türkiye, cultural differences, and the reality of Afghan migrants on the streets, completely unfiltered. 👉 Don't forget to like the video and subscribe. 👉 What do you think about a culture being brought to the streets of another country to this extent?
