How to Cross the Thailand - Cambodian Border

After a month of being in Thailand, it was time for me to cross the border into Cambodia. I went online to research from other people on how to do this border crossing, as I've done so many in South America, Central America and in South east Asia as well. The information I gathered, showed that this was not an easy crossing to make as theire was a lot of paperwork to complete and there were scams to encounter. However, I discovered that this was one of the easiest crossings that I had done! I recommend that you too online and complete an EVISA from the Cambodian government website at: www.evisa.gov.kh Do not use any other website as there is the possibility that they will charge you more. Once you have your EVISA (should take up to 4 days), get 2 copies printed off. Your hostel or hotel will direct you to the shop that will do this. Buses run to the border directly from Trat or Khlong Yai, costing around 100 Baht, depending where you are taking the bus from. Once at the border, you will get your fingerprints and photo taken by the Thailand immigration side and is straight forward. When you walk through to the Cambodian side, there will be a lot of people who will want to help you. They are basically taxi drivers looking for a fare and they will charge you more than you should pay! Go straight to the immigration booth. Do not take any health checks. They are a Scam to take more money. Complete a form that the immigration office gives you. Give both copies of your EVISA and they will keep one and stamp the other with the date of entry. The form you complete will be stapled into your passport. Do not lose either of them, as they are required at the departure immigration office.
