Diastereoizomery i formy mezo - teoria

In this video, we consolidate our knowledge of enantiomers and explore the second type of stereoisomers: diastereomers. We learn the formula that allows us to determine the maximum number of stereoisomers for a compound with a known number of chiral centers (2^n). We draw all four stereoisomers for 2,3-dichloropentane, indicating which pairs are enantiomers and which are diastereomers. Then, using the example of a symmetrical tartaric acid molecule, we learn about the occurrence of meso forms, i.e., forms of compounds with asymmetric carbon atoms that, due to the presence of a plane of symmetry, are non-chiral and do not form enantiomers. I want to create a community here where we are not afraid to ask questions and study chemistry together for our final exams.
