Speaker Series: Triumph and Tragedy with Richard de Boer
Triumph and Tragedy: The Tale of WWII's Most Accomplished Bomber, Mosquito 'F for Freddie' On May 2, 2025, aviation historian Richard de Boer presented a powerful talk at the KF Centre for Excellence in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the remarkable - yet tragic - story of Mosquito 'F for Freddie.' Drawing from 50 years of research, de Boer brings to life the heroic legacy of this record-setting bomber, its role during the Second World War, and its devastating crash just two days after the war in Europe ended. This presentation was part of the KF Centre for Excellence's Speaking Series - an ongoing effort to preserve and share Canada's aviation history through the voices of experts, pilots and historians. Filmed in front of the CFE's 1947 de Havilland Mosquito aircraft. Featuring: Richard de Boer, Founder of the Calgary Mosquito Aircraft Society Hosted by: KF Centre for Excellence in Kelowna, BC.
