Beyond The Doll: How China’s Censorship Fuels Anti-Black Racism

Another chapter in the Asian - Black coalition and this time it isn't a boycott. The controversial Natasha doll trend revolves around a baby-shaped squeeze or stress-relief toy that some users, particularly on Chinese social media platforms, film themselves squeezing, slapping, stretching and roughly handling. What makes this so disturbing is that the doll is often dark-skinned, resembling an innocent Black baby. Good old anti-black racism, what do you know Okayafrica was one of the first platforms to unearth Natasha, showcasing content creators violently manipulating the doll, often to the point of destroying the toy. Even more troubling, video footage highlighted by the outlet suggested that similar behavior may be occurring with real children in Africa. In fact, we have seen cases of influencers in China using Black & African children for rage bait. When they're not available good old blackface or a blackface filter will do. Asian creators have spoken out about this both from China and here in America but the explanations, especially that of the Chinese government, tell. us everything we need to know about anti-black racism across the world. #natashadoll #china #antiblackness #humanrights #racism Join this channel to really set it off:    / @reesewaters   PATREON: Patreon.com/ReeseWaters Support the Channel 🙏🏽 MERCH SHOP: thepeoplesgetup.com Venmo: https://venmo.com/u/ReeseWaters Cashapp: $ReeseWatersTips Paypal: @ReeseWatersTips Follow Me on Social 👏🏽 #reesewaters Twitter:   / reesewaters   Instagram:   / @reesewaters   Email: [email protected]
