After building the deck railing posts from fallen Douglas fir, we milled a fallen hemlock from our property to finish the rest of the railing. From milling the lumber to sanding, staining, and installing every board, this project is another step toward building our homestead from the forest that surrounds it. It's slow, hard work, but there's something incredibly satisfying about creating something with wood harvested right here on our land.
