05-26 Charles River Bike Trail, MA. 23 miles

23 miles from Watertown to the Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge on a beautiful day in late April 2026. We took the path along the south side of the river, starting out in the woods, then moving along between the river and major roadways including Storrow Drive, the Mass Pike and the T at one point, going past many boat houses with crew shells, then moving into riverside park areas in the city with playgrounds, flowering trees, windy pathways, and bridges. There were many road crossings and and lots of traffic. We crossed the river and started to head back on the Cambridge side, but found the road crossings there difficult so we crossed back after a few miles. Turns out we were in the area where a violent man, who had been jailed (not long enough) for shooting cops, released over 50 rounds randomly on Memorial Drive where we had biked a few weeks before. Thankful he wasn't around when we were there.
