On the first day, we had a long journey from Fukuoka Airport, transferring multiple times before finally arriving at our destination. We stayed at the Green Rich Hotel Tottori Ekimae, located about a 5-minute walk from Tottori Station. While the hotel's rates are slightly higher on weekends, the facilities are quite decent—recommended for your reference. If you plan to visit the San'in region, it's more convenient to fly in and out of Okayama Airport. However, due to the timing of the Lunar New Year flights, we opted for Fukuoka Airport this time, which was quite far and time-consuming. On the second day, we originally planned to visit the Tottori Sand Dunes, but due to unfavorable weather, we decided to make a detour to Kurayoshi instead. Upon arriving in Kurayoshi, we first dined at Shimizu-an, a century-old machiya restaurant, where their 12-variety mochi hot pot was especially unique. After the meal, we visited the Kurayoshi Shirakabe Dozo District. This area, lined with white-walled storehouses along the Tamagawa River, features buildings primarily from the Edo and Meiji periods and is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Japan. The stone bridges over the Tamagawa River, combined with the red-tiled roofs and white walls, create a distinctive streetscape. The warehouses and buildings, once used for sake brewing and soy sauce production, have been repurposed into cafés, specialty shops, exhibition halls, and other facilities.
