Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1003 Siren Test | Full Alert | Martinsville, IL | 10/7/25

Location: Off Buttercup Lane behind Martinsville City Hall System: Clark County Test time: 1st Tuesday of the month at 10 AM Enthusiasts present: Tommy (‪@buckeyenotifications‬) For the first Tuesday of October, we decided to make a trip over to Illinois to record this 1003 in Martinsville that had been discovered just a few months prior to this. From the moment we first saw this thing, we knew it would be ungodly loud due to it being somewhat low-mounted and pretty much surrounded by walls and buildings. The weather was looking a bit sketchy, but after calling to confirm that they would indeed still be testing, we decided to stick with it. They were a couple minutes late with testing, but once this thing wound up, we were absolutely gobsmacked by how loud it was. This is probably the 2nd loudest Thunderbolt I have ever heard, narrowly beating out West Bank and Amelia ES, and ranking just below the 6M 1000 in Marshall, MO. I'd even go as far as to say this was about on par with the 10/12 Allertor in Cedar Falls! It also rattled our chests and the ground beneath our feet a considerable bit, and was still extremely loud even when facing away due to it echoing off of all the buildings! Overall, this was an absolutely insane experience, and I'm glad we finally got to hear this thing in person. Enjoy!
