24 horas sin cargar: probamos qué llevar al Tesla para la Transpirenaica

Before embarking on a 13-day adventure traveling in vanlife/teslife mode with our Tesla through Spain and a good part of the Trans-Pyrenees route, we needed to do a real test. So we headed to the Sierra Norte of Seville, an area without nearby electric car chargers, to spend a day and a night outdoors and see what equipment is worth bringing… and what things might not be so worthwhile. On this trip, we covered 265 km without charging outside and also used the Tesla as a base camp: camping mode for sleeping, V2L charging for electrical devices, a portable shower, a shower cubicle, a hairdryer, a large table, hammocks, a lamp, kitchenware, and even a Thermomix to try and eat well in the great outdoors. During the day, we visited the source of the Huéznar River, swam in the Huéznar waterfalls, passed by the artificial beach of San Nicolás del Puerto, and ended up in the area around Cerro del Hierro, a Starlight Reserve where we set up our small outdoor living room/kitchen next to the Tesla. The idea was to prepare a healthy dinner: zucchini soup in the Thermomix and salmon on the induction hob. But we made a big mistake: we forgot the hob at home. So we had to improvise. The salmon ended up cooked in the Thermomix, without the Varoma or simmering basket, directly in the bowl. It wasn't the best salmon in the world, but it saved our dinner. And that's precisely what this experiment was about: seeing what happens when things don't go perfectly. We also experienced an unexpected scene with a fox that approached us during dinner, attracted by the smell of the food. It was a very special moment, although it also reminded us of something important: in nature, we are visitors, and we must always respect wild animals and not accustom them to depending on people. The next morning, we improvised again with the Thermomix, this time to make coffee, remembering the coffee my grandmother used to make. Then we analyzed the total energy consumption of the trip: travel, camping mode, V2L, and all the battery usage necessary to live this experience without plugging in outside the home. The conclusion is clear: before a long adventure, you have to really test things out. This trip has allowed us to make mistakes, improvise, learn, and better prepare for the Trans-Pyrenees route.
