Navi Mumbai Airport Operations Begin Dec 25: A New Era for Mumbai Aviation | CIDCO MD. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), Mumbai’s second international airport, is set to begin commercial operations from December 25, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation and infrastructure journey. Ahead of the launch, The Free Press Journal spoke exclusively to CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal, who called the airport a “New Year gift to the nation.” He spoke about the long journey behind the project, first-day flight operations, connectivity plans, digital systems, and how NMIA will ease congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport.
