Koitsu Tsuchiya (1870-1949) became a pupil of Kiyochika Kobayashi at the age of 15. He stayed in his master's home for 19 years. His early print works were war prints of the Sino-Japanese war. Afterwards Koitsu Tsuchiya made mainly Shin Hanga landscape prints. The artist is a leading exponent of the shin hanga movement.
