Former Taucha firefighter Ray Lange was caught speeding with flashing blue lights and sirens while responding to an emergency call. The city of Taucha subsequently issued a fine and a driving ban. Now, the court has ruled in the fine proceedings: Ray Lange does not have to pay. The surprising twist: According to the court, the temporary 30 km/h speed limit sign at the construction site apparently had no legal effect at the time of the incident. The 30 km/h speed limit was not legally enforceable during the relevant construction phase. The court also recognized the special privileges granted to firefighters responding to an emergency.
