P-38s vs Ki-61s || The "Wingman" Series || An IL-2 1946 Video W/Guncam || 2k
The P-38 Lightning was designed and built as an interceptor, not a fighter. It was good at both of those tasks. The fact that it was a good fighter is proven by the fact that the two top scoring American aces in WW2 both got all their kills in the P-38. In IL-2 1946, the P-38 flight model is very poorly represented. There are twin engine bombers in this game that can out maneuver it. That's a shame, because it keeps players from wanting to fly it. That's why you don't see a lot of Youtube videos that feature it. To be successful with the P-38 in IL-2 1946 you have to not only be a good sim pilot, you also have to have a good amount of patience. To be a successful "wingman" in the P-38, you need both of those things in abundance. If you lack either one, you and/or your flight leader will be shot down. A little luck never hurts, either. ;^) This video was made using the VPMod version of IL-2 1946. It's number 15 in my "Wingman" series. Please leave a like and/or comment if you enjoy the video.
