BOTANY BAY ~ Australian folk song
From 1788, Botany Bay, in New South Wales, was the "dumping ground" for British convicts. "(Bound for) Botany Bay" is a transportation song from the musical burlesque, "Little Jack Sheppard", first performed on the London stage in 1885 ~ it is now widely considered a "traditional" folk song. Here, Australian, Graham McCarthy, presents his version.
