Post Spawn Trolling: TOUGH Bite, Great Day!

Spent the holiday chasing crappie on Truman Lake with water levels still high from weeks of heavy rain. The lake was running about 7-8 feet above normal pool, current was moving, and the bite was anything but easy. I started the morning trolling crankbaits across flats and managed to put together a solid box of keeper crappie despite long stretches without a bite. The standout baits were the D&S Custom Jigs Cajun Cricket, Bandit 200 Root Beer, and several W Lures crankbaits that continued to produce throughout the day. One of the highlights was a beautiful 13-inch crappie that absolutely hammered a W Lures crankbait. Even with changing conditions and a tough summer pattern, persistence paid off and I finished with nearly a limit of fish for the freezer.
