Pentti Sammallahti, an internationally celebrated photographer from Finland, captures the world in beautiful black-and-white photographs printed in the traditional darkroom. His works have influenced the world of photography and photographic printing in the 21st century, and he is one of the most respected and admired figures among Scandinavian photographers. Sammallahti, who has won the Finnish national photography prize in 1975, 1979, 1992 and 2009, is one of the most influential photographers in the world. He was even chosen by Henri Cartier-Bresson, a famous French photographer known as the "master of candid photography," as one of his favorite photographers. Sammallahti paid a visit to Korea to hold his first-ever photography exhibition in the country. We went to the exhibition venue, Gallery Kong, in Samcheong-dong, Seoul to check out his works spanning 30 years of his career. We also caught up with him on the opening day of his exhibition, and interviewed the Finnish Ambassador to Korea and Korean photographer Koo Bohn-chang who came to see the exhibition.
