He also serves as a Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University (USA). A graduate with honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires in 1990, he then completed his Pediatric Residency at the French Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and continued his professional training in the United States, where he was a Pediatric Residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2002, he decided to return to Argentina and, despite establishing residency there, maintained his positions in the United States, which he visits frequently. Until the end of 2008, he was a member of the faculty in the Departments of Pediatrics, Immunology and Molecular Microbiology, and International Health at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. INFANT was founded in 2003 with the aim of bridging the gap between basic and applied scientific research in the field of pediatric infectious diseases. Under his leadership, the Foundation's researchers are working on childhood respiratory viruses, seeking to understand the protective mechanisms of breast milk, and analyzing the pathogenesis of the dengue virus to contribute to the development of a vaccine. Since its inception, the organization has established a network of more than 20 hospitals across the country, where a group of over 100 Argentine professionals has joined the Foundation, achieving remarkable progress in various areas of children's health. Dr. Polack received the 2010 E. Mead Johnson Researcher of the Year Award from the Pediatric Research Society of America for his scientific achievements.
