Now, as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, he has recently returned home to Western Australia after three months in the USA. Music has always been a central part of Daniel's life. He studied classical music at Churchlands Senior High School, before being the first violinist to complete a Bachelor of Jazz Performance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2022. These days, Daniel maintains a busy and eclectic schedule on the road and in the studio with bands and orchestras including The Drieberg Brothers, Monty Cotton, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Praaz, Sign of Four, Scarlet's Way, Russell Holmes, and many more. Viewing music as a bridge of cultural exchange, Daniel strives to connect with, and unify audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Best Band with a Fiddler Award - Kelly’s Wayke featuring Mae Napier-Traeger Kelly’s Wayke was actually born at an Irish wake for Mick Murphy, brother of band member Brian Murphy and family friend of the Kellys. So when the Kellys and the Murphys got together for Mick's wake, all the old Irish songs their parents had taught them when they were growing up were played to celebrate Mick's life. They played for about seven hours in the back room of the pub, and when the publican came into the room, they thought he was going to kick them out for making too much noise. NO, he said. 'We turned off the jukeboxes hours ago. Everyone's been listening to you guys all night'. Kelly’s Wayke was born the very next day. They are now Adelaide's premier Irish Folk band. The band's violinist Mae Napier-Traeger is a classical violinist who says she was corrupted by Celtic and Bluegrass music. She holds a Bachelor of Classical Performance from the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music and tutors students of all ages. Community Award - Jon Wolfe This award celebrates almost 50 years of dedication by Jon Wolfe to broadcasting, journalism and country music administration. He was writer, co-host and producer of the long-running ABC country music program in Western Australia – Country Calling. At the same time, he began writing on country music matters for The West Australian newspaper and Tamworth’s Capital News. After moving to Tamworth in the early 1990s to join the famous Hoedown radio team at 2TM, Jon was next appointed as editor of Capital News and has been closely connected to the country music scene as a songwriter, radio, print and social media journalist, member of the Country Music Association of Australia board, and artist manager, concert producer and mentor– all roles that have allowed him to support and nurture the artists and the industry. Following editorial roles at the Northern Daily Leader and editor of the Tamworth City News, Jon became the news journalist for Super Radio Networks 2TM and 92.9FM radio stations and presents a weekly country music segment on 2TM. He is the Vice Chairman of the Country Music Association and is on the advisory committee for the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
